This player focuses on directing the ball towards the goal from the corner or
sides of the field. They are also prepared to prevent opponents from clearing the ball.
Passers can employ techniques like rolling the ball up the wall to challenge the opposing
defense.
The Shooter
The shooter's role is to await a pass and be ready to take a shot if the ball
goes over the goal, into the opponent's corner. Shooters also ensure that the opposing team
doesn't regain possession if the passer hits the ball too forcefully.
The Defender
Defenders primarily support the passer. Positioned around the midfield, they
are ready to take control if the passer cannot hit the ball or if the opponents manage to
clear it. When an offensive defender rotates back to defense, they become the front player
in the defensive rotation.
Defensive Rotation
The Front
Front players focus on clearing the ball towards the opponents' side of the
field. If they miss or find themselves out of position for a follow-up hit, they rotate away
from their goal to the other side of the field. This is an opportune moment for players to
gather boost.
The Side Player
Positioned to the side of the goal, away from the front player, this
position supports the goalie if the ball is pushed up the wall. The side player should be
ready to replace the goalie when they move to the front position. Awareness of teammate
positions and maintaining appropriate spacing is crucial for this role.
The Goalie
Goalies are responsible for defending shots on the goal. They also support the
front player if the front misses or rotates out to gather boost. The goalie plays a flexible
role and can prevent opponents from rolling the ball up the wall, maintaining a strong
defensive stance.
